Soprano

About Mia
Mia Love, soprano, is a New England based singing actress whose work encompasses opera, musical theatre, concert, and education. Her artistic interests center on bel canto repertoire, new works, and projects that amplify underrepresented composers, specifically women composers, alongside standard operatic and musical theatre repertoire.
In March 2025, Love presented solo recital The Sound of Her: A Celebration of Women Composers, featuring works by Bonds, Hensel, Dell'Acqua, Strozzi, Viardot, Larsen, and Bonis. This recital accompanied research focused on historically underrepresented women composers of art song, and their relationship to both music and the world around them. In May 2025, she debuted the role of María Graciela in the world premiere of electroacoustic chamber opera The Other Ghost composed by Felipe Hoyos-González. The fall of that year, she returned as a guest artist to the University of Southern Maine Osher School of Music for its Inaugural President’s Concert celebrating the opening of the Crewe Center for the Arts, becoming the first classical soprano to perform in the new facility.
Love’s operatic repertoire includes Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), Adele and Rosalinda (Die Fledermaus), Abigail Williams (The Crucible), Diva (Black Square), as well as ensemble appearances with Opera Maine in L’elisir d’amore, Der Fliegende Holländer, and Aida. Her workshop appearces include Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw), Musetta (La bohéme), and Pessia (The Mensch). Additional credits include musical theatre performances as Gertie (Oklahoma!) and Lily (The Secret Garden). In 2024, Love performed a solo concert with Opera Maine as their 2024 Ellen Chickering Young Artist.
Deeply committed to arts education, Love served in 2023 as long-term music substitute teacher at Lincoln Academy, where she led mixed and chamber choirs through the preparation and performance of their spring concert and taught courses in piano, guitar, and music history. She also served as an Opera Maine Education Outreach Young Artist during the 2022–2023 season.
Love holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Southern Maine.
